Every day, Jetstar passengers donate to StarKids, Jetstar’s partnership program with World Vision that is helping to transform the lives of children and communities in Australia and across Southeast Asia.
However, Jetstar staff are just as committed to brightening lives through StarKids.
The StarKids program has been embraced by Jetstar team members who are eager to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and communities.
Jetstar staff fundraise weekly for StarKids through raffles, morning teas, even running marathons! Every day, Jetstar staff are sharing their passion with passengers to promote and support StarKids.
In November 2012, Jetstar team members had the opportunity to visit World Vision projects overseas for the first time.
Eight eager Jetstar team members worked for months to raise money for the program and then travelled to Vietnam to see firsthand how StarKids donations are helping children in need.
The families they met were excited to share how newly built toilets – plus water, sanitation and hygiene training supported through StarKids – were helping to improve children’s health.
They discovered that StarKids is also supporting a local women’s economic development group who are making and selling hats to help send their children to school.
Seeing such success stories firsthand was a highlight of the trip. Jetstar team member, Gemma Goullet, says it was “really great to see the project in action”.
Gemma is keen to continue fundraising for StarKids. “I want to stay involved, especially now I have seen where the money goes – not a cent gets wasted,” she says.
